Community Development

Community organizing facilitates the development of residents to become agents of change on shared issues in their communities.  It increases the stability of the neighborhood through increased engagement and is distinctive because it is a resident-led process. Community organizing also connects residents to the myriad of services CHAI provides.  Since its inception, CHAI has facilitated the community’s creation of hundreds of neighborhood projects, which have served to increase curb appeal, improve the environment, and increase the shared sense of pride, ownership and connectedness of neighbors throughout the GSA.

  • Community Conversations

Community Conversations works to intentionally build bridges, helping to create unified communities working toward harmony within our general service areas.

  • Schools

CHAI works with and advocates on the behalf of three neighborhood schools through the Northwest School Community Partnership, a coalition that includes local government, school principals, and PTAs.
